Odaily News According to CCTV News, after the United States announced that it would impose a 50% tariff on Brazilian goods from August 1, Brazilian President Lula said in an interview on July 10 local time that Brazil would conduct tariff negotiations with the United States and would take reciprocal countermeasures if they were ineffective. Lula said that Brazil would give priority to trying tariff negotiations and file a lawsuit against the United States for unilateral tariff increases at the World Trade Organization. He emphasized that if the negotiations were ineffective, he would take reciprocal countermeasures in accordance with the provisions of Brazils Economic Reciprocity Law and impose a 50% tariff on Brazilian products exported to the United States.
